During enlistment was trained as an Air Traffic Control Radar Repairman in a comprehensive 20 month training program conducted at Keesler AF Base, Biloxi, Mississippi. My follow-on assignment was to Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, where I was assigned to 32nd Air Squadron, a world-wide deployable unit, and trained on combat expedient Air Traffic Control shelter configuration, flight testing, runway surveying, and facility repair. Received and graduated from 9 months of additional training in missile systems maintenance and repair, solid state and integrated circuitry maintenance, and the deployable Air Traffic Control self-contained equipment, TPN-19. Proficient in use of spectrum analyzers, radio frequency testing equipment, and programming Precision Approach and Area Surveillance Radar scopes in binary code. Requested and was allowed to take the Air Force Officer Qualification test, and achieved a respectable score in the 79th percentile (79% of those tested scored lower). was selected for Officer Candidate School, where I was sent to study at University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK; enrolled in Air Force Reserve Officer Training Cadet and obtained Cadet Major rank during my attendance at OU.
